Margate’s Ryman League Premier Division status hands by a thread following defeat at Tooting and Mitcham yesterday. Stones break Gate unbeaten run
Margate lost for the first time in 10 games as Wealdstone kept their slim play-off hopes alive. For Gate, it looked like a case of one game too many as the effect of three games in five days told. Neither keeper had much to do, and Margate rallied well towards the end, but it was a case of too little too late. Manager Iain O’Connell had mixed views on the 1-1 draw against Bognor Regis Town. A disappointing first half performance followed by a determined second half recovery left him feeling the score-line was a fair reflection of the game. |
Gate held by Rocks
Margate’s progress away from the drop zone was halted by Bognor Regis as both sides look to avoid the drop. A point a-piece was probably the right result as Gate improved in the second half but the 1-1 draw against the division basement side will go down as an opportunity missed for the Blues.
