Visitors' Guide
Coming down for an away match? Of course, depending on where you have travelled from, a stop-over in the area may be necessary, although even if you don't need to stay it would be a shame to come to Margate without seeing what's on offer.

Margate itself is mainly famous for it's long, sandy beaches, having been a popular seaside resort for over 250 years (it was the first resort to introduce donkey rides and deck chairs!) and rightly so. It is a perfect seaside town, right down to the seafront amusement arcades and the infamous sticks of rock.

There are also many great places to visit, among them The Shell Grotto is most notable (www.shellgrotto.co.uk), and the surrounding areas are worth a look, too. Take Broadstairs, for example, this small town just 10 minutes away from Margate is perfect for an afternoon stroll. Charles Dickens certainly thought so, as this was his holiday home and, reportedly, where he got the inspiration for David Copperfield.

Also Westwood Cross, Thanet's largest (and newest) shopping centre, with its cosmopolitan atmosphere, always has something to offer visitors of all ages. Ramsgate, as the country's only Royal Harbour, has a very picturesque marina and is a great place to sit with fish and chips (wrapped in paper, of course!) and just watch the world go by.

We hope to see you soon!
